Rationale

The novella "The strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" was written by Robert Louis Stevenson in 1886 in the context of Victorian Times. The novella it's about a doctor named Henry Jekyll that wanted to separate boths personalities, a good and a bad one, by keeping just with the good one, but he didn't achieve to keep just with the good one, but instead, he kept the bad personality.

In this task I'm going to refer to different aspects of the book, by starting saying how Robert reminds Jekyll how he was as a child, his attractions to scientific resources, experiments and animal manipulation. To understand the main themes in the letter Robert will refer to the immoral acts that Jekyll had commited, he knows all this information because he receive letters from Lanyon and Utterson to alert him about the situations.

The creative piece is connected to the novel with a letter from the brother of Dr. Jekyll (who is not a character in the novel) to Jekyll in which he tells him that he knows about all he has done, the people who killed, the people that he disturbs, all this in close detail.

I believe that the letter was the best way of communication between Dr. Jekyll and his brother named Robert, because they didn't live together and were separated by a long distance. This letter is addressed specifically to Dr. Jekyll and the text type used was an informal letter.

Speech of Animal Farm

Dear Fellows, 

Today 11th November of 2016, a simple sheep like me has summon you, my partners, to this important meeting that concerns us all. I summoned just some of you because it cannot be revealed the real purpose of the meeting. It’s true that I am a simple sheep that doesn’t do anything truly important for the farm more than agree or disagree the propositions, but I need your help and it is your right to know this.

It’s well known that when we expelled the humans out of the farm we had to decide what we were going to do next. Napoleon took care of the farm and everybody was accepting the situation, but I was the only one that had a different point of view. Snowball, also had the same reaction than I when we listened to Napoleons speech for the first time, but he was different than me, he expressed his opinion against Napoleon, with the consequence of being chased and incriminated like a traitor. Fellows, I investigated Napoleon’s mandate and I discovered that he has cheated to all of us. First he had perverted Old major’s dreams, Old major had imposed the first laws and decrees which were based on where all animals were equal, but Napoleon didn’t care about any of his dreams, until Old major died in hands of the humans. One day when I was passing near Napoleon’s room I listened to a conversation between him and Scuiler that had explained all my doubts. The disappearance of all the chickens was because Napoleon wanted to sell all the eggs that had been hatched by the hens, but instead of accepting this situation the hens flew into the sky and threw all the eggs so Napoleon couldn’t sell it, Napoleon knew this and hanged all the hens.

So how are you going to accept like your leader an animal who doesn’t even care of your own lives, Boxer was the one who worked harder in the farm and Napoleon killed him lying to him by saying that he was going to the doctor but instead he was sent to the slaughterhouse.

Animals, what is the difference between being dominated by the humans or by Napoleon, which instead of being safe, we are constantly afraid of what is going to happen next, he instead of feeding us takes rations of food and brainwashed our minds.

Indian Reservations

An Indian Reservation is a legal designation of an area used by a native american tribe, under the US Government. There are 326 Indian Reservations in the US and they were created in 1658 named Powhatan Tribes. All the reservations have an area of 227.000 km2. Not all of the tribes in the US have a reservation, there are ones that have more than just a reservation, there are others that share a reservation. Some reservations are very fragmented and that's  why are created political, administrative and legal difficulties.
The term "Reservation", comes from the conception of independent sovereings when the constitucion was ratified. There was a treat a long time ago when Indian Tribes surrendered large areas of land to the US Government, wich the tribes, as sovereings, "reserved" to themselves, and those areas came to be called "reservations".
The majority of Native poblation live in other places than reservations, often in big cities like Phoenix and Los Angeles, 1 million of Native Americans live in this cities. 
Many Native Americans who live on reservations deal with the federal government through two agencies, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Indian Health Service.
Refering to the quality of life in some reservations is very similar to that in developing world, with issues of infant mortality, malnutrition, poverty, alcohol and drug abuse.

These two friends were separated and they never see each other again in their lives. This novel occurred in the middle of a civil differentiation between Pashtuns and Hazaras.

I’m going to start saying that The Kite Runner is very linked with this task because both are about a letter that Baba sent to Hassan, because he realizes that he can’t occult more longer that Hassan is his real son, so he writes this letter saying he is apologized for not treating him like his own son.

The creative piece is that Baba writes this letter to Hassan, thing that doesn’t happen in the book and saying that he is the father of Hassan. What I’m attempting to say by writing this letter is that Baba always had the opportunity of telling Hassan that he was his father and he was sorry for how he treated him like, but he couldn’t do it in the book because he was afraid and he didn’t have the courage to face anyone, but in this letter was different.

Sofia got pregnant and we were very happy, I believed that I was the luckiest man in the world, but when we were at the hospital waiting for Amir to be born, something went wrong in the delivery phase and Sofia died when Amir was born. That was the best and the worst day on my life. Two years later, I started a relationship with your mom Sanaubar without Ali knowing this, and this event has weighed me down all my life. Sanaubar got pregnant with you and I was responsible for that, I am your father Hassan, and Ali never knew that. He always believed that he was your father but the truth is that I am. I loved you Hassan, my son. I am so relieved now by telling you this, I had always loved you but I couldn’t told you before because Ali was living near my house. I would never going to see his face again because I don’t have the courage to look at his eyes.

Hassan, I want to apologize for not having treated you like my own son because I was afraid of Ali’s reaction, and I don’t want you to be alone because of my mistake and your mother’s mistake. I want to tell you that when I die, I am going to divide all my fortunes between you and Amir, and I want you to stay close to Amir, as if you were brothers. Kite Runner Reflexion

In this reflexion of The Kite Runner, between the book and the movie there are plenty of differences and similarities that we can found but in this time I just will refer to 3 of them. One difference between the book and the movie is that in one part Assef fights with Amir, and in the movie just shows that Amir was very hurt in the floor, but in the book shows that after the fight Amir gets knockout and waked up in a hospital. Another is that Rahim Khan in the book its coughing blood and was very sick and in the movie apparently is okay. The third difference is that in the book Assef tells a story that he was in prison and in the movie doesn’t. One similarity is when Assef and Amir where speaking, in both cases its well explained. Another is when Amir and Farid where well dressed and in both cases is explained with a lot of detail. The last is that in both cases its similar the distribution of the dialogs.

Dear Martin,

I am writing to you principally to ask you how you have been in these days, but really I want to tell you that the other day I was shopping in the market near my house and I saw a estrange mark on a chocolate bar, I was very interested about this mark and I searched it in the web. You are not going to believe me what that mark was, a strategy for poverty alleviation and sustainable development named Fairtrade. Martin, the purpose of Fairtrade is to create opportunities for producers and workers who have been aconomically marginalised by the conventional trading system in developing countries. With the Fairtrade mark they could get a better deal internationally speaking.

The weird thing was that this chocolate bar was 10% more expensive than conventional bars, so I searched for it and with this 10% you could help these disadvantaged workers giving them this 10% more for they personal use.

This symbol Martin, represents a lot of things that you can see only looking at them, but the real interpretation of this logo represents a farmer holding their product or a campaign worker fighting for a greater justice.

Martin, I want you to think about this because I believe that is very important to help this people that are economically marginalised by the international powerfull companies, so you need to compromise with this the same as me, and if you are going to buy something try to look for the Fairtrade mark.

In this picture you can analyse the following information, there is an Australian rugby player kicking the ball in middle of a match in Australia. The differences of traditional rugby an Australian rugby is that the second one is played in a circular field and you can tackle a player without the ball, thing that in regular rugby you can't do. The players of the picture were using unsleeved T-shirts and shorts with the colours of they respective teams, also using studs. The expressions of the black team are of sadness because the blue team had scored a point all the players in the picture are standing and only one kneeling. The main focus of this photo is the player of the blue team kicking the ball to mark a point against the black team.

Photo Description Invictus

This image reflects when the Springboks visited a poor community on Johannesburg, South Africa. They go there because they were trying to unify the white side of the country that was the British people with the other side that were the black people. With this beautiful action Mandela was trying to stop a civil war that it will destroyed the country and his people.

In the photo you can see how the Springboks share a whole afternoon playing rugby with little children of the poorness side of Johannesburg. In the photo all the boys seem to be very happy and having a good time.

The Springboks team was dressed with sports clothes with a sweater of the team, shorts and studs. And in the other side the poor children were dressed with worn out shirts, shorts and a pair of shoes.

The actions were that they were passing the ball from side to side and clapping at the same time, the expressions of their faces were of extremely happiness and surprise from the children, because they never had the opportunity of playing rugby.

“Times change, we need to change as well” Francois Pienaar, Capitan of the Springboks said these emotive words to motivate his team before the match, referring that they could change the history winning the match versus the all blacks. This movie has a genre of sports drama mixing with a crude social reality, this sports drama shows how Nelson Mandela follows the idea of unifying a whole country by winning the rugby world cup.

Invictus faces the horrible reality between two different nations, the British culture that were the minority of 43 million people that lived in South Africa and the Native’s African people. Nelson Mandela who lid a violent opposition to the regime of Apartheid, that were in the government in that moment. Mandela was arrested in 1962 and condemned to life sentence, he was released 30 years later in 1990 and he started working as a representative of the multiracial democracy.    After the victory of his party he was elected president in the elections of 1994 and he was the first black president in South African history. This movie is based in real historical facts, like the decision of Nelson Mandela of using the rugby world cup to find the support of the white minority and reducing the racial tension that could caused a civil war, trying to unify this two cultures.

Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela in Invictus, invited a Francois Pienaar, (Matt Damon) the captain of the Springboks to a cup of tea on the presidential house to argue about winning the World Cup. Francois Pienaar motivates his team to make an effort trying to win the world cup.

The Springboks started winning a lot of matches and they get very quickly to the final. In some parts of the movie Nelson Mandela felt’s very gloomy when he remembered his days in jail. The Springboks made a beautiful social work visiting some poor children and they spend one day playing with them and showing what Mandela’s proposition was. The Springboks who made an enormous effort to get to the final were very afraid to play the match against the All Blacks because they were very powerful as a team. I will leave you here because I don’t want to disclose the great ending of this film.

I totally recommend this movie because it reveals the different social classes in South Africa at that period, and how a president didn’t feel any remorse to the people that arrested him, because he wanted to unify a whole country, to make a democracy in South Africa. The movie has beautiful pictures and scenes that show us the poorness of that country. Also the Springboks team was acted by real rugby players except the main actor: Matt Damon.

Getting Ahead - Letter to a friend

Dear Martin,

It had been to long since your last visit to Chile, I want to tell you that all the guys here are very good, including me. But something occurred to me two days ago, I was skating in a very steep street when suddenly I fell down near Bosques de Montemar and I crushed with a car that was parked in the right side of that stupid street. I fainted and when I woke up I was inside of an stranger car going to the hospital.

The doctors told me that my arm was dislocated and I would need to use a cast for about three months. I knew in that moment that I was going to skate again in a week. They gave me some drugs for the pain and I was released. I am gonna wait until I felt better to go back to the streets.

My friend, I want to ask you, how have you been in this long time that we haven't seem each other, now I have to say good bye, have a nice day. 

Global Warming Opinion Essay

It's worth understanding what is going on with the environmental problems facing us today, than trying to change it without knowing what's happening first. My view is that the society doesn't know that the most important environmental problem facing the world today is global warming; we need to think about what is going to happen when our grandchildren become adults and when the world will be consumed by a dangerous climate change, increasing the average temperature of the Earth.

According to National Geographic, scientists have spent decades figuring out what is causing global warming, they've looked at the natural cycles and also events that are known to influence climate change. National Geographic scientists investigated the problem and came out with the conclusion that the only way to explain global warming is to include the effect of greenhouse gases emitted by humans.

I believe that its going to be very difficult to carry with global warming problem, because first we need to change the point of view of humanity. If people do not try to live in an ecological system I don't believe that we would win this. What Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) said was that "climate change will have a significant impact on the sustainability of water supplies in the coming decades". A new analysis by NRDC found that "more than 1,100 counties will face extremely high risks of water shortages".

On the other hand John Hawkins, a columnist of Townhall Newspaper said that "there is no scientific consensus that global warming is ocurring and caused by man".

According to him "31.000 scientists have signed on to a petition saying humans aren't causing global warming and another 1.000 saying there is no global warming at all".

In conclusion I believe that what John Hawkins said is entirely wrong, he said that global warming it's not occurring and it's not caused by humans, I said to him that I have real facts why global warming is caused by humans that are filling up the atmosphere of greenhouse gases that will destroy it.

I believe that we need to think about what is happening with the atmosphere if we want to continue living the way we live.

There is no scientific consensus that global warming is occurring and caused by man: Questions are not decided by "consensus." In fact, many scientific theories that were once widely believed to be true were made irrelevant by new evidence. Just to name one of many, many examples, in the early seventies, scientists believed global cooling was occurring. However, once the planet started to warm up, they changed their minds. Yet, the primary "scientific" argument for global warming is that there is a "scientific consensus" that it's occurring. Setting aside the fact that's not a scientific argument, even if that ever was true (and it really wasn't), it's certainly not true anymore. Over 31,000 scientists have signed on to a petition saying humans aren't causing global warming. More than 1000 scientists signed on to another report saying there is no global warming at all. There are tens of thousands of well-educated, mainstream scientists who do not agree that global warming is occurring at all and people who share their opinion are taking a position grounded in science.

Alexis Sanchez was signed by Arsenal for the amount of 32 million Euros, Wenger, new Alexis coach said that Alexis will add power, creativity and much quality to their squad, and they are looking forward to him joining up with them in a few weeks; Claudio Bravo was transferred to Barcelona FC by the amount of 12 million Euros approximately, Bravo said that he wanted to thank Barca for putting their trust in his hands, and the possibility of Arturo Vidal being transferred to the “ Red Devils “ named Manchester United and founded in 1878, one of the oldest teams in Europe.

Dear Mayor,

For years I had been living in the same house when I lived as a child and I don't want to change the type of life that I had been living all my life because of a mega construction. I am explaining well?,  I want to give my opinion and concern about the way how we are going to live from now on to the rest of our lives,  the point is that a mega stadium its going to be built in our city and I think that  will be going to affect us like a community but it also our environment.

I'm totally disagree with this project and I am going to mention three reasons that will make you think about this construction:

First of all it will bring serious consequences like more traffic in the streets, this means that will increase vehicular accidents. Another reason of why I disagree this project is the extremely increase of violence and ingest alcohol from the dangerous fans of the football team, the last one is related to environmental pollution by the garbage dumped in the streets and inside the stadium.

I hope you, the authorities and those in charge of the project read this letter and not leave it aside as you normally do. If you read it you would understand that what are you doing is the wrong thing to do.
