Problems of Alcohol in the People
Problems of Alcohol in the People
In Chile and in the entire world alcohol has been promoted in the history of humanity by adult people, but in these times has been promoted alcohol by underage teenagers behind the 21 years old (that is a decent time to start to ingest alcohol). And cause a big problem in his social life and his health of teenager. In my school I have been watching for some time that teenagers under 18 or 21 as the legal ages for drinking alcohol in my country and in USA, are starting drinking alcohol to be more cool or be more funny in the parties.
Drinking and Driving
One of the deadliest outcomes of teenage alcohol abuse is drinking and driving. Car accidents are the leading killer of the 15 to 20 year old age group.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration:
- In 2004, 13.6% of all drivers involved in fatal crashes were young drivers age 15 to 20.
- For the same year and age group, 29% of the drivers who were killed in motor vehicle crashes had been drinking.
Drinking too much alcohol for a long time increases the possibility of:
- Bleeding from the esophagus (the tube that connects the throat to the stomach) or stomach.
- Inflammation and damage to the pancreas. The pancreas produces substances that the body needs to function well.
- Damage to the liver. When severe, often leading to death.
- Poor nutrition.
- Cancer of the esophagus, liver, colon, head and neck, breast, and other area
- Peer pressure is also a cause of the use of alcohol.
Alcohol Problems in the Schools:
In my school there is a lot of teenagers less than 18 or 21 years old that ingest alcohol without the permission of their parents in most schools the problems is alcohol it really does affect the youth the reasons are alcohol makes teens also use drugs. In some places near my school are some locals that sell alcohol to teenagers illegally without anyone's permission. The more they use alcohol the worse the drugs get because if they start using marijuana in a few months they start using crack and more hard core drugs. When they start using drugs they start from the more little one but then the thing is worst because is going up the degree of drugs and that is fatal.
Studies performed in 8th grade teenagers :
43.1% have had an alcoholic drink in the past year, 25.1% have been drunk and 15.2% have had 1 or more binge drinking episodes.
